I spend a lot of time reflecting on issues that affect me and people close to me. Or maybe not that close to me. I've decidedly began investing a greater amount of time reflecting on how those who are less fortunate make it through the day. I find 100 sh, the equivalent of a pound or a dollar, to be petty cash but many living in my country (Kenya) find this very same amount elusive like rain in the Sahara.
More and more often, I find people loitering outside gas stations asking for alms from the local scouts, to IDPs (Displaced persons from the general elections held last December 2007) to school kids trying to raise funds for desks & chairs. Then I think (after I give away some money every time) that I really need to consider a more sane version of giving. Like picking one charity, figuring out a grand sum to give to it and sticking to it as a rule of thumb. Or else I'll just keep giving and wondering if maybe those little kids were sent to me by their parents because things are not as criss at home as they are for me...
...or are they that criss coz just the other day I had to ask GV to lend me a G... lol.
I really enjoyed this child's singing. He gave me goose pimples!
C's birthday today. Happy birthday love!
